[Solved] Update freezez in Virtualbox installation

Post by soundtech »

I have just installed FuryBSD 12.1-XFCE-2020030701 in Virtualbox 5.1.22_MX r115126 (compiled for MX 16 Linux). I like what I see so far.

I tried to update using "freebsd-update fetch". This is as far as it got:

root@furybsd:~ # freebsd-update fetch
src component not installed, skipped
Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 3 mirrors found.
Fetching metadata signature for 12.1-RELEASE from update4.freebsd.org... done.

I think I had the same as I started with FBSD in vbox, I cannot remember exactly, maybe I killed this hanging terminal and just reopenend a new one and retried the command, or even rebootet and restarted the update. In the end it has worked and updated my vbox client.
Good luck, maybe it helps.

It looks like you are in the final list of updates session. This is part of the freebsd-update process. When freebsd-update pulls update files, it gives you a list of everything that will be updated as the final step. You can go up and down in the list to review all the updates, and once you complete your review, just press 'q' to quit.
At that point, if you are happy with the updates and ready to continue, you can run 'sudo freebsd-update install'.

Hope that helps.

That worked. Thanks. I didn't realize that it was waiting for input from me.
